She looks at her kids spinning themselves in circles.

"As long as I'm here with my kids, that's all I need."

So... I had to ban my 3 year old from watching a cartoon movie called 'The Secret life of pets 2" I'm sure all parents have seen this movie, and have probably seen the first one too. There's a particular scene in this film where a rabbit and a monkey are fighting. On this occasion, he was copying how they were fighting and kicked his brother in the stomach. He cried. I immediately turned it off and told him what he did was wrong-- told him to apologize to his brother and that was it. I honestly forget that kids copy EVERY SINGLE THING that they see-- because this is how they learn and retain information. This happening was a wake up call that I can't just let my children just watch anything; despite this being a cartoon for kids, there are still gonna be certain scenes that may not be appropriate-- ex-- fighting. It's our job as parents to be vigilant and mindful that everything that they see they will copy.. so we most definitely have to be the first ...

Transparency Tuesday: Harsh lessons

From the start of the pandemic, I've started letting my 3 year old eat by himself. Now this is going to sound so... silly.. but I kind of delayed doing it because I enjoy feeding my children and spending that quality time with them. But honestly he's getting older and he needs to be more independent.. so yeah. I don't want to become one of those parents that ends up doing everything for their children-- because at the end of the day it's not helping them.. I made him lunch; noodles and hot dogs, put his plate down, put his fork in the food. I told him, "Jerry, make sure you blow your food because it's hot" He took the fork and ate the noodles. What do you think happened? He spat the food out and went 'ow' lol. So I told him again, and blew the food. Then I told him to blow the food. He blew. He ate it and smiled. I said 'see' and he went, 'see' So I continued to watch him eat.. he would still put some of the food ...

Transparency Tuesday: New routine

So.… I've been a bit absent from the blog... Myself and the boys are now in a new routine. They have now finally started school and getting used to the adjustment is something else. I haven't needed to wake up at 6 for at least 2 years now looool, so going back to that is a wake up call. But I'm so proud of the boys.. they have adjusted well. The first day was... a nightmare. Jeremiah was screaming and crying and throwing himself on the floor... and Matthew thought I was coming into school with him, so the moment he realized he was crying and crying... and the school had to call me back to collect him. The second day... it was a complete 360 and they walked into the school like they've been doing it all their lives. I felt like the worst mother ever on the first day-- there were other kids having tantrums and meltdowns but I felt like.. it's always my children that have meltdowns.. or this could just be my own paranoia.. Jeremiah is struggling a little bit to settle...
