Thoughtful Thursday: When you just want the best

So as my boys are now into their 3rd week of going to school... I'm just grateful..

When Jeremiah was struggling in the first week-- I had a meeting with the headteacher and the SENCO.. who immediately wanted to work out what we can all do for the settling in process to be as smooth as possible for Jeremiah.
I got a call prior to this meeting and I just thought of the absolute worst...

But when they sat me down and told me 'We want Jeremiah to have the best experience possible here" I was encouraged and knew that this school is for him.
I prayed and prayed for God to pick the school that both Jeremiah and Matthew would thrive in-- because one thing I have been pleading to God for is their education.

I was reassured just by what she said that this is that school-- I want the best for both of my boys and whatever I can do to make that happen (with God's help) I will make it happen.

I want my boys to do MORE than what I did.. I want them to be successful... and it all starts now.

Speak over your children! Every positive thing you want to see manifested over your child's life, speak it into existence. Do you believe this works? I do. As much as you may or may not believe, the words that we say carry power and it does work. Why do you think when children get bullied, they start to believe what the bully is saying to them? We as parents must be awfully careful not to speak anything ill fated over our kids. They do stress us out.. They do frustrate us.. We do get tired of repeating ourselves.. Transparency Tuesday: Mummy walk!

So about a week back I wrote a short story about my experience of my youngest, Matthew basically almost walking into the road. lol. Would you believe that he didn't walk until 17 months? (1 yr, 5 months) Was I concerned? Yes? Did I think something was wrong with my child? Yes and no Despite him not walking, he was still making some kind of movement: shuffling with one leg. He was cruising, and doing all of those other good things.. but the walking happened much later. Can you also believe he skipped crawling altogether? It was when he started to walk, that's when he decided he wanted to crawl as well. I tell you... kids are such amazing little human beings-- and this is why we can't restrict their growth and development based on theories and books. It can definitely be used as a guide, but it should not be used as crutch to tell someone's child that 'there's something wrong with them' or 'they are delayed'  Obviously if there are other characteristic...

Thoughtful Thursday: That moment where...

I'm sure we can all recall a funny moment, a humble moment, a sweet moment that we have had with our kids. I'm gonna share two with you that I sat down and went "Ok.. he's really growing!" This is with my 4 year old, Jeremiah. First moment: We got home from nursery collection, and the usual routine is we come in, take off our shoes, coats etc and then wash our hands. Both boys did that; but I still had my shoes on; because I'm usually up and down prepping for dinner, I forgot. What did Jeremiah do? He pointed to my shoes and said 'Mummy, shoes off!" I paused and had no reason to tell him off or shout-- I just said 'Ok, I'm taking my shoes off. Thank you." Second moment: Jeremiah needed to poo--- there are times he will say 'Mummy poo' and go to the toilet. There's other times he will kind of hover around the toilet, especially if I'm around.
